Airline Selection Preparation — CPL Holders

Airline Selection Preparation — CPL Holders

About the Course

A CPL gives a pilot a professional foundation. Airline selection asks them to draw on that foundation, explain what they know and show how they approach responsibility in the cockpit.

IFA's Airline Selection Preparation course helps CPL holders bring their technical knowledge and communication together. It is designed for pilots preparing for an airline assessment, returning to study after flight training, or working towards another selection attempt.

What the Course Covers

Technical Knowledge Revision

Preparation revisits Air Navigation, Meteorology, Air Regulations, Technical General and the aircraft knowledge relevant to the applicant. Students work on explaining a principle, applying it to a situation, and recognising the limits of an answer.

The academic foundation comes from the applicable DGCA subjects. Recruitment content is determined by the airline and role — there is no single DGCA syllabus for every airline entrance assessment.

Navigation, Instruments and Flight Planning

Revision connects navigation methods and instrument interpretation with flight-planning decisions. Discussion includes route and fuel considerations, weather information and the reasoning behind an operational choice.

Aircraft Knowledge and Performance

Students revisit the systems and performance principles relevant to the aircraft they have trained on. The emphasis is on understanding relationships and explaining what an indication or limitation means, using the appropriate aircraft references.

Aptitude and Psychometric Preparation

Where required by the vacancy, preparation addresses reasoning, attention, numerical work and assessment familiarisation. Personality-assessment preparation encourages honest reflection on work habits and responses to pressure.

Technical and Personal Interviews

Mentoring helps pilots discuss their training, flying experience and technical understanding clearly. Personal preparation covers motivation, responsibility, setbacks, cooperation and examples of learning from feedback.

Group Tasks and Professional Communication

For selection processes that include a group stage, preparation covers listening, contributing a relevant point and helping the group reach a reasoned outcome. Students work on explaining a concern constructively and responding to an alternative view.

Selection Process and Assessment Pattern

Airline selection varies by vacancy. Depending on the role, it may include application screening, technical or aptitude tests, psychometric assessment, interviews, group exercises and a simulator assessment.

A CPL-holder vacancy can require additional ratings, medical validity, experience or other qualifications — these requirements come from the individual airline's recruitment notice. There is no universal question count, test duration or airline pass percentage; preparation is matched to the role and the assessment instructions supplied to the applicant.

What IFA Offers

Online and offline classes
Class notes for technical study and revision
A test after every chapter
Mock tests
Doubt-solving sessions
One-to-one mentoring

Regular testing helps identify technical gaps. Mentoring allows pilots to work through explanations that lack clarity and develop interview examples grounded in their own experience.

Who Is This Course For?

CPL holders preparing for airline recruitment, pilots revising after a break from ground study, and candidates preparing for another assessment attempt. Eligibility to apply remains specific to the airline vacancy.
