About the Academy
Emirates Flight Training Academy (EFTA) offers professional pilot training in Dubai and accepts applications from international students. Admission involves academic, aptitude, communication and medical assessment. IFA's preparation is designed for applicants to the academy's international route.
Prepare with IFA
EFTA applicants need to show both academic understanding and readiness for demanding training. Our preparation connects careful subject revision with a more confident approach to assessment and interviews.
Students work on selecting the right method, explaining an answer and remaining composed when faced with an unfamiliar task. The course also helps applicants articulate why they have chosen the academy and how they have prepared for the commitment ahead.
What the Course Covers
Mathematics and Physics
Revision develops the ability to work through theory and calculation questions. Lessons place emphasis on understanding relationships, using units correctly, choosing a method and checking whether an answer is reasonable.
Abstract and Spatial Reasoning
Students work on identifying patterns, considering how shapes relate to one another and interpreting information from different perspectives. Explanations make the reasoning visible so that practice builds understanding.
COMPASS Assessment Familiarisation
Preparation introduces the demands of coordination, orientation, multitasking and memory exercises. The emphasis is on understanding task instructions and maintaining attention as demands change.
Personality and Interview Preparation
Mentoring helps students reflect on their approach to learning and responsibility. Preparation covers concise answers for recorded questions and the more detailed discussion that a one-to-one interview allows.
English Communication
Comprehension and spoken expression support clear explanations and active listening. Students learn to organise an answer and respond accurately to follow-up questions.
Selection Process and Assessment Pattern
The published process includes application screening, a recorded HireVue interview, psychometric and reasoning assessment, an online interview and assessment in Dubai.
Mathematics and Physics each have 30 multiple-choice questions and a one-hour time allowance. COMPASS covers coordination, spatial orientation, multitasking and short-term memory. English assessment and GCAA Class 1 medical checks follow as applicable.
What IFA Offers
Chapter tests help students see whether a concept is secure before moving on. Mocks provide further practice, while individual mentoring gives students room to discuss the aspects of admission preparation they find unfamiliar.

EFTA states that previous flying experience is not required for admission.
QDoes IFA conduct the official COMPASS or medical assessment?
No. Official assessments are arranged through the academy’s admission process.
