About the Course

Every flight begins long before an aircraft leaves the runway. It begins with understanding the weather, planning the route, knowing the aircraft and making informed decisions.

What the Course Covers

The curriculum follows the DGCA CPL theoretical-knowledge syllabus for aeroplanes, prescribed in CAR Section 7, Series B, Part IV.

RTR(A) Part 1 - Written Examination Preparation

Build the theoretical foundation for clear and effective aviation radio communication. Coverage follows DGCA’s RTR written-examination syllabus:

• Regulations and Procedure: International radio regulations, Q-codes, communication procedures, aircraft radio-equipment requirements, Indian FIRs, meteorological codes and relevant NOTAMs.

• Radio Principles and Practice: Electrical fundamentals, radio-wave propagation, communication equipment and radio-navigation aids.

• Radio Telephony: Standard phraseology, aerodrome and approach communication, area control, ATS surveillance, distress and urgency procedures, and communication failure.

RTR(A) Part 2 - Practical Examination Preparation

Develop the knowledge and communication skills needed to handle radio-telephony exchanges across different phases of flight.

• Practical radiotelephone operation and procedures.

• Accurate transmission and reception of messages.

• Radio-communication regulations, particularly those relating to safety.

DGCA Examination Preparation

CPL ground examinations are conducted subject by subject, with objective questions assessing theoretical knowledge and its application. Depending on the paper, preparation involves calculations, interpreting information and understanding aviation rules, systems and procedures.
