Technical Specific - Aircraft Type Theory
About the Course
Technical Specific focuses on the aircraft type relevant to a student’s training and examination. It takes the general understanding of aircraft and systems into the details of a particular model.
At IFA, the course centres on the selected aircraft and its related systems. Students study how those systems function and how the technical information applies to that aircraft. The aim is to help students understand the aircraft they are studying and organise their preparation for the applicable Technical Specific paper.
The course is suitable for students preparing the subject for the first time and candidates returning for revision. Chapter tests, doubt-solving sessions and one-to-one mentoring support students as they work through the aircraft-specific material.
What the Course Covers
DGCA CAR Section 7, Series B, Part IV, paragraph 2.1.5 defines Technical Specific as the paper concerning a particular aircraft and its related systems.
The course therefore covers:
1. The Selected Aircraft Type
Technical study of the particular aircraft model relevant to the student’s preparation.
2. Aircraft Systems
Study of the systems fitted to that aircraft and their operation.
The detailed syllabus varies with the aircraft type. Coverage is specific to the selected model rather than a common chapter list for every aircraft.

What IFA Offers
Online and offline classes
Class notes for study and revision
A test after every chapter
Mock tests
Doubt-solving sessions
One-to-one mentoring
Doubt-solving sessions give students time to discuss aircraft details and system operation that need further explanation. One-to-one mentoring helps them review their progress and focus on areas where their understanding is incomplete.

Frequently Asked Questions
QIs the syllabus the same for every aircraft?
No. Technical Specific concerns a particular aircraft and its related systems. The detailed material depends on the aircraft model.
QIs Technical Specific the same as Technical Performance?
No. DGCA lists them separately. Technical Performance applies where required for the relevant aircraft and licensing pathway.
QCan I join for revision before another attempt?
Yes. The course is also suitable for candidates who want to revisit their aircraft-specific knowledge and address gaps before appearing again.
QDoes completing this course give me an aircraft rating?
The course provides theoretical preparation. The applicable training, checks and licensing requirements for an aircraft rating are completed separately.
